Welcome to Oil and Gas Investments
Our fleet's multi-billion dollar renewal and expansion programme is nearly complete, and currently we have 77 managed vessels, and 115 on time charter. Although these figures go through slight variations, this is Shipping's operated and time chartered (OTC) fleet shape, carrying close to 50% of the Group's maritime cargo needs.
Through its industry-leading ship vetting system, Shipping provides an assurance to the rest of the Group on the quality of the vessels it manages and charters while its port clearance team ensures that the marine terminals visited by ships on 's business are safe and well managed.
Getting the oil, gas and refined products that we produce to the businesses and people who need them, wherever they may be in the world, is a big job.
Over 4,000 people work in our supply and trading division. They try to work out how much oil and gas from our various production platforms and distribution terminals should go on to each of our refineries to be turned into useful products. They must also figure out how to get it there – by pipeline or by ship.
As products leave the refinery, in the form of gasoline, say, or chemicals or heating oil, the same complex questions apply. Who wants to buy it, where are they and how will we get it there?
